Debt
This may come as a surprise to you all, but the Idea of Progress is not a wealthy man. Sure, you might think– so you only have one private jet and two islands to your name…that’s not poverty.
Unfortunately, that’s not true. I was in debt before I moved and even moreso now. In fact, I just began full time work yesterday. In other words, I have a long way to go before I became financially solvent.
I just read this article in the Consumerist about a woman who paid off her $14,000 debt in 20 months. If you might be having a bit of a money crunch, it’s worth checking out. It certainly gave me ideas.
My favorite is her credit cards– she got rid of all of them but one, but didn’t use it, paying only in cash. The final card was placed in a glass of water and then put in the freezer. She could get at it if she really needed it, but would have to work at it.

Those cross country moves can really take it out of you! I know!
Ha ha ha ha! Only $14,000 in debt? Rookie. I’m past the stage of most of these tips, and into a different one: find a homeless man who looks like me, burn his body in my car, and start a new life. Hopefully, the insurance companies have never seen “Fletch.”
