Republican Scandals

All of the lovely press coverage of the perils of Larry Craig have got me thinking. It seems to me that there are a lot of Republicans that have been indicted for either sex scandals or financial improprieties in the last few years. We have (of course) Senator Craig (R-ID), as well as Ted Stevens (R-AK) and Mark Foley (R-FL). There’s many, many more out there, but all of the ones I hear about are just about always from Republicans.

Does this mean that Democrats are more honest? Do they just hide these things better? Do we only hear about the Republicans because the press has a liberal bias?

Who else should be on this list?

Okay, there is Norman Hsu…but he’s a fundraiser, not a politician.

Democrats just kill members of the opposite sex in cars.

I’ve been a Dem since I was seven (not because of my parents, but because they had a woman on the ticket). However, we’re not as blameless as I would like. There’s the issue of all that cash being in Con. Jefferson (D-LA)’s freezer. Not sure how that got there.

Republicans just look like bigger hypocrites when they get involved in sex scandals. Not that I’m opposed to hypocrisy being exposed; in fact I’m all for it. As for politicians being exposed…keep it on, guys. Keep it all on.

I think in general there’s just not the same incentive for journalists to bust someone for say cheating on their spouse when that particular public figure isn’t advocating “family values” or “abstinence” and what not.
